Etsy Store Just Opened

We are now officially a part of Etsy.   We have more pieces that aren't on there yet, so we will be adding more of our Vintage Chick jewelry,  ASAP.   We hope you'll check it out.   You can go directly to our Etsy store from the blog by clicking on the Etsy sight to the right

Our T-shirts are ready to be printed, so very soon we have those online too-  yeah!  We are starting with one style and will add more as the funds become available- I hate that part:)

We did find some fun tanks and t's that we will have on line soon too.

Top again this year, but we are going on a quick road trip to hopefully find some fun, fabulous, and shabby things to sell.

We have already found  some great things for the next Good Ju Ju sale in April and  the much anticipated Miss Frenchies sale April 17th and 18th.  Check out our chick happenings for more info.  The picture is just a few of the items we are saving for this sale!

Fabulous Shabby Frames

Wow,  so glad to finally be able to get back to our blog-  We have had a crazy few weeks, and we wish it would have been because we were hunting and gathering more fabulous finds.  Sometimes life, meaning family and friends has to come first.   We know all of you can relate.   

I am attempting to get my home transformed from winter to spring-  yes!  Don't you just LOVE putting the feel of spring in your home.  We are so ready for warmer weather,  fresh flowers,  green grass and outdoor flea markets!

I am still not quite done transforming my home for spring, but I did get inspired to share some ideas for those wonderful old frames besides adding  photos or a  mirror.   Finding a fabulous shabby frame is like finding gold to me,  I love them and have a stack of them in my workroom, that I just can't rid of, but know they will find a place one day

I will change the display around the frames according to the season.  For instance, using an old floral platter in the center for spring and summer and a white ironstone platter for fall and winter.   Or,  I LOVE setting a frame on a table or chest and letting it lean against the wall.  You can place a wonderful sconce or smaller print inside, or just leave it empty and place your displays in front, using more gold or darker colors around the frame for fall and winter and more whites and pastels for spring,  blues and ironstone filled with shells for summer.  For my daughters room, she wanted a more glamorous feel, so we still have the antique pieces painted cream, but used black accents.  I purchased the vinyl wall word 'Dream' knowing it would go over her bed, but it needed something more, so just adding one a wonderful frame from my workroom pile made it perfect. 

Something else we love to do with old frames is make them in to bulletin boards.   We have several for sale on our website and I will offer them for sale on this blog too.  We only have a couple right now, but will have several more done this month.   If you are interested,  in one of them, let me know.

Three Chicks Ode to Our Favorite Magazines

For those of you who had an appreciation for the magazines we will no longer receive in the mail or can buy on the stand, you might be able to relate to this post, but for  those of you who not only appreciated, but waited in anticipation, looking forward each month to a new and inspiring get away, even if just for a few moments, into the pages of a few of our favorite decorating magazines, We know you will relate.  We think for us the reality that we would no longer be able to flip through, study, and fall in love with something we saw,  loved enough to tear out the page and add it to our notebook of favorites, was when we received the replacements for the wonderful Mary Engelbreit's Home Companion, Cottage Living, & Country Home (although I don't know if I received a replacement for that one yet- have you?)  I want to make this very clear though, that I am very, very thankful that another magazine was willing to take over my subscription, and that these are wonderful magazines  that have much to offer and I know many enjoy, but wouldn't you, who  have been receiving Southern Living and/ or Martha Stewart because you love them,  and then, one day in the mail you are informed that they will no longer be coming, wouldn't you, at least for a moment, feel sad?

We must say that we will no longer take for granted our monthly get away moments into the pages of Country Living, Romantic Homes, Veranda, Better Homes and Gardens, and other magazines that we love and still receive.    They will continue to be our monthly inspiration  into the world of the decorating style we love and, we will open the pages of our replacement magazines, and I am sure,  be inspired, learn from, and enjoy the pages of Southern Living and  Martha Stewart Living. Which is a fabulous magazine with wonderful decorating ideas, creativity, and insight, but can, at least for us, tend to remind us that our desks are piled high no matter how hard we try to get organized,  our work rooms are cluttered with projects started but not finished because we have so much to do and life gets in the way, and my-Robin  (I won't include the other chicks on this one- ha ha) freezer is full of social suppers- my version of the home-cooked meal. 

So, if you can relate at all, please let us know.  I think we, the faithful subscribers to a monthly 

interlude into the homes of others in hopes of seeing something that makes us oooo and ahhhh and possibly accomplish in our own homes, or just simply tearing out the page or pages to add to our book of favorites for later  inspiration...yes, I think we can have a brief pity party-  this was ours!

I will end with a quote from the last Mary Engelbreit's Home Companion we received, 

 " A bend in the road is not the end of the road, unless you fail to make the turn"  unknown author.

On another note,  we have some ideas for future blogs that I hope you will like, love, or at least  enjoy a little. One idea is, We will be featuring a chick a week- myself-Robin, Niki & Marlo will share a little about our families, ourselves, and share some pictures of our homes.   Not sure when this will happen, but hopefully sometime soon.   

We also had a great sale at Good Ju Ju this past weekend.   We need to get busy shopping for next month- yeah,  we love that part!   We are putting some really cool finds away until April and the Miss Frenchies sale-  we'll include some teasers for this show in a future blog too.

Website up and Running!

We are so excited to let you know that our website is on line and we have put some of our favorite things on there for you to see.  We have put some fabulous finds on the website for you to check out.   We have  antique frames made into bulletin boards,  a fab chalkboard made from an antique door, and my favorite are the antique table legs made into candle holders.   I LOVE using architectural pieces on tables, mantels, above cabinets,  just about anywhere- can you tell.  As you can see above, I've put a few pictures of our Vintage Chick jewelry line on this blog.  These are just a few of the awesome pieces that we have on our site.  Niki did a such a great job making these fabulous, unique, one of kind pieces for you.  Just click on the link on our blog page and you can check it all out!

We are really excited to let you know that we are working on our own t-shirt line that will be sure to have a shabby, vintage feel.  We will let you know as soon as our vision is a reality!

We have some great shows coming up that you won't want to miss too.   

This weekend is Good Ju ju in Kansas City.  This is a great once-a-month sale that always has a fun, unique variety of good junk.  We will be there on Friday-  Check out the picture above of   some of our stuff for sale this month.

We are really looking forward to these two show coming up this spring and fall.

We feel really honored to be asked to join the Miss Frenchies French Market show this April.  Be sure and check out the blog and we will have more details coming soon, AND is anyone up for a Road Trip!   We will be heading to Minnesota this fall to be a vendor at a  fabulous show called Junk Bonanza.  We will be keeping you up to date on this show too,  but you might want to start planning to come and check it out.  Click on the name for more info.

Hopefully, we will be adding some more fun shows to our schedule, so we will be sure and let you know.

We are so new to the blogging and internet world, and know that we are not as polished as so many of the blogging veterans that are such an inspiration to us and others.  We will continue to add to our favorite links, so be sure and check out some of our favorites that inspire us.   But,  we are hoping and planning to begin adding decorating ideas, pics of our homes and junking adventures, and other shabby chick ideas we can come up with.   You can join our email list, if you want to keep up with our blogs and happenings.

Our First Post

Hello,

The Three Shabby Chicks, Robin, Niki, & Marlo welcome you to our Blog.

This is our first time at blogging, and I will be honest and let you know we are not real sure how to do this but,  If you by some chance come upon our first post,  We hope you will return again.  Our entire business has been learning as we go, so blogging will be no different:).

Our main goal at this point is to let you know a little about our business and what we are up to.

We are in the process of working on our website, which is another huge challenge and a learn as we go thing, but we will eventually be pros at that too,... right?   So, if you click on our store, please check back again.  We will be putting items on as soon as we can.

Just a little about us:

We are 3 high school friends from Liberty, MO, who for many years now, have shared a love of decorating, flea marketing, antiquing, and just have fun together.  We are all about the girl thing, and treasure our friendships.  We are Girlfriends First & Three Shabby Chicks second.   

We actually started our business a little over 5 years ago, but became sidetracked with family and other business ventures a couple of years ago, and took a little break from the junking business.  But, as all of you true junkers know, it is in our blood and the love of the old and shabby won out, and we are were feeling the need to get back to what we love.  So, in May of 2008, we reopened the Three Shabby Chicks and went flea marketing and were blessed to have a local clothing boutique in Liberty, MO called Zabedo, let us add our items to her store.   We sent out postcards, held an open house and began to sell again.  

Niki, one of the Chicks,  has always wanted to make jewelry, so in the summer of 2008, we added our own line of unique jewelry we named, Vintage Chick.  It is fabulous vintage pieces repurposed into hip, fun necklaces, bracelets, earrings, & chokers, you can see some of our jewelry in the photos.  We are blessed to have our jewelry in several local stores too.   I'll add the links to these stores too.

In September 2008, we heard about a fabulous once a month sale in downtown KC called, Good Ju Ju.  www.goodjujukc.com,  We checked it out and decided this was a great opportunity to sell more and get our name out, so we, along with one of our junker friends,  Kathy,  rented a space.  So if you live in the Kansas City area, or are coming through, you HAVE to check it out.  You never know what you will find at Good Ju Ju.  Check out their website for info and directions.  We can meet you there and let you in to shop,  if you can't make it the first weekend of the month.

Another great way to get our name out has been open houses and local holiday shows.  Our favorite, was the American Royal Tablescapes we did with Zabedo.  Our favorite part- the set-up of course, making our vision reality.   (see photo below)
